On Saturday I played at one of the most romantic wedding services I have been to. It took place at Saint Monica's Catholic Church in Palmers Green, North London.
The Priest had a very pleasant manor and was romantic (without being saccharine sweet like some that conduct ceremonies) and the things he said and values that he preached could be taken on board and respected by anyone, regardless of religion. And he didn't make a plea for donations for new windows...
There were some traditional song choices such as Wagner's Bridal Chorus for the processional and Mendelssohn's Wedding March for the recessional and these were mixed with some more modern songs during the signing of the register such as Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Your Song and Hedwig's Theme (the main theme from Harry Potter) which the Bride specifically requested I arranged for classical guitar.
All in all it was an excellent and romantic ceremony. I also played for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast which took place at The Royal Chace Hotel, Enfield, North London. The wedding cake design was based on Harry Potter and indeed there was a bit of a Harry Potter theme going on throughout the day. I played a selection of arrangements from my repertoire throughout the reception and also arranged the theme.
