Haymarket Hotel – Pall Mall, London

Haymarket Hotel Wedding, Pall MallDownstairs at The Haymarket Hotel, Pall Mall

On Friday I played for a wedding in a very quirky hotel between Piccadilly and Pall Mall in central London called The Haymarket Hotel. Behind the traditional Georgian entrance it is a surprise to see such a burst of colours (see the photos). This great little hotel mixes chic with comfort using an array of colours such as turquoise, fuchsia, mango and violet-blue (many thanks to the photographer for indicating these precise colours – I would have struggled beyond purple and move).

The ceremony was held upstairs with song choices including a classical arrangement of How Deep Is Your Love and Elton John’s Your Song.

The evening party was held downstairs (in photo) with a dance floor constructed over the swimming pool. Again very colourful and quirky with some of the nicest champagne I have drunk. I think this hotel would be my first choice of hotel to take my fiancé on a special weekend in central London.

On the evening Valentine’s Day I played a romantic set of music for the diners at Stock Brook Manor in Billericay, Essex. There was a special menu on offer with, of course, oysters, and a special effort was made by all the staff to create a really romantic atmosphere.

There was even a proposal on the night which received a round of applause when the proposal was accepted. Congratulations Rob and Wendy!

I was surprised by how many requests were made for Stevie Wonder song – is this a Valentines thing? I played Isn’t She Lovely, You Are The Sunshine Of My Life, As and Signed, Seal And Delivered, I’m Yours.

ISE Technology Showcase – RAI, Amsterdam

Last weekend I played for the ISE (Integrated Systems Europe) audio vsual technology showcase at the RAI centre in Amsterdam. ISE is an annual event for audio and visual technology companies to showcase their latest products and do business with other companies.

Whilst I wasn’t playing I checked out Sennheiser’s latest headphones whch are superb and a tiny camera fitted to a remote controlled helicopter which has an app that lets you played the footage live on your ipad. Very impressive.

The show had 894 exhibitors and 44,151 attendees. I am already booked agian for next year’s showcase.
